Support of Surgical Procedure Decision of Pediatric Congenital Heart Disease (ped UT-Heart)
ped UT-Heart is a cardiac simulation medical device under development to support surgical decision-making for pediatric congenital heart disease. It faithfully reproduces the morphology and function of each patient's heart from the molecular and cellular level to the whole heart, blood flow, and circulatory system, and predicts postoperative hemodynamics and cardiac function by performing virtual surgery.
This system is currently in the clinical trial stage and is a medical device unapproved by the Pharmaceutical Affairs Law. It cannot be used for general medical treatment. *This system will be provided to medical institutions after obtaining approval.
Pediatric congenital heart disease procedure decision support (ped UT-Heart)
ped UT-Heart is a cardiac simulation medical device under development to support surgical decision making for pediatric congenital heart disease.
It faithfully reproduces the morphology and function of each patient's heart on a computer, and predicts postoperative hemodynamics and cardiac function by performing virtual surgery.
It can simulate various surgical procedures on the computer in advance to assist physicians in surgical planning.
This system is currently in the clinical trial stage and is a medical device unapproved by the Pharmaceutical Affairs Law. It cannot be used in general practice.
*This system will be offered to medical institutions after obtaining approval.
This service is being developed in collaboration with the National Cerebral and Cardiovascular Center, Graduate School of Frontier Sciences of the University of Tokyo, UT-Heart Research Institute, Inc. and Cross Medical, Inc. Issues We Aim to Solve
- Needing objective information useful in making surgical decisions
- Increasing the success rate of actual surgery by performing Virtual surgery
- Improving the quality of life for patients following surgery
Features of Service
Preliminary Simulation of Postoperative Blood Pressure and Oxygen Status
ped UT-Heart is a cardiac simulation medical device that can simulate changes in blood pressure and oxygen levels after surgery in advance based on the cardiac condition of each patient. By visualizing postoperative conditions, it assists in the consideration of difficult surgical procedures.
Supporting Judgement in Surgical Procedure Choice More Objectively
By comparing multiple surgical techniques and simulating the results of each, it provides an objective basis for decision making in addition to the physician's experience. This leads to more convincing decision-making even for complex cases.
Variety of Outputs Helping Your Understanding of Simulation Results
ped UT-Heart visualizes blood pressure, oxygen saturation, and myocardial behavior from multiple angles with numerical, graphical, and 4-dimensional displays. By providing a bird's-eye view of simulation results from various perspectives, UT-Heart provides intuitive and in-depth insight into complex cases.
Frequently Asked Questions
- What kind of medical device is ped UT-Heart?
ped UT-Heart is a cardiac simulation medical device under development to support surgical decision making for pediatric congenital heart disease.
It faithfully reproduces the morphology and function of each patient's heart and performs virtual surgery to predict and visualize postoperative hemodynamics and cardiac function.
- In what situations can it be used?
This is to be utilized when reviewing surgical plans for pediatric congenital heart disease surgeries. It is useful when multiple surgical techniques need to be compared, or when more objective judgment is needed for difficult cases.
- Does it automatically determine diagnosis and treatment?
No. ped UT-Heart is a cardiac simulation medical device to assist physicians in decision-making and does not automatically determine a diagnosis or treatment plan. The simulation results are used as reference information and the final decision is made by the physician.
